Job Description
We are a major New England benefit plan operation, servicing 15,000 active members and 7,200 retirees. The Funds are responsible for the operation of two retirement plans, a self-insured/self-administered health plan and a vacation savings plan. The Health Fund Supervisor ensures high levels of customer service, productivity, and quality by directing and managing the performance of the Health Fund team, providing technical guidance, and serving as an escalation point, as necessary.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include but are not limited to the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Monitoring the day to day operations of the Health Fund claims/eligibility departments, including producing and analyzing productivity and performance reports.
* Setting and maintaining customer service and performance bench marks, including tracking, reporting, coaching, counseling, and disciplining staff as necessary
* Supervising and directing work activities for assigned employees.
* Responding to staff questions and providing training as necessary.
* Identifying and developing the skill sets of individual staff members for further advancement.
* Onboarding and training employees.
* Planning and coordinating monthly team meetings.
* Contributing to and/or participating in annual employee performance reviews.
* Tracking all time off requests and processing payroll on a weekly basis.
* Analyzing and resolving inquiries from members, providers, vendors, and partners, including that as a point person for escalated matters.
* Participating in the development, refinement, and maintenance of departmental policies and procedures.
* Identifying methods of increasing claims auto adjudication processes.
* Processing all staff claims.
* Auditing claims processed in-house.
* Performing as Health Fund Representative at educational seminars.
* Working on any assigned aspects of potential merger.

Job Requirements
* Associates Degree or equivalent experience
* Must have solid knowledge of COB/TPL processing; EDI processing; Medical code sets such as CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10/NUBC and related coding rules; and DOL ERISA Healthcare/Health Plan Regulations, including HIPAA
* Must have the ability to learn quickly, working closely with the Manager on customized and complex projects requiring a high degree of analytical and technical skill
* Must be able to learn to recognize and take into account the broader business, operational, and financial impacts
* Must understand and be able to use the different software packages employed by the New England Carpenters Fund for analytic purposes (e.g., Microsoft Suite - Excel, Word, Access)
* Requires good problem solving ability, initiative and judgment
* Requires good oral and written communication skills
* Previous supervisory experience, preferred
* Bi-lingual, a plus

* Regularly required to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, fax machine, etc.).
* Sitting at a computer long periods of time
* Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and occasionally stand and walk.
* Regularly required to use hands to operate computer and other office equipment.
* Close vision required for computer usage.
