Church Administrative Assistant P/T

The First Church in Ipswich, U.C.C. seeks a part-time Church Administrator whose two primary roles would be to support the Minister, and supervise and facilitate the day to day activities and operations of the church and its committees.

- Support the Minister, Trustees and Committees with administrative needs. Work proactively to problem solve. Communicate with the Minister as needed on changes or new business.
- Work weekly with Sunday School and Youth Group Programs.
- Greet visitors and assist with any questions.
- Respond to and follow-up on calls to the church or inquiries regarding church activities, upcoming events, event inquiries, rental space inquiries, or other needs.
- Provide appropriate paperwork to prospective renters, or those seeking other arrangements with the church (i.e. memoriam flowers, requests).
- Assist with the preparation and finalize weekly bulletins & newsletters or other communications from the church. Copy and collate as needed and present to Minister.
- Maintain files, official church documents and private documents with confidentiality.
- Coordinate incoming and outgoing mail.

Skills Required:
- Must possess positive, inviting and professional demeanor as expected in a church administrative setting.
- Must be comfortable working and dealing with a variety of personalities.
- Website management experience is desirable.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently to assist with the Minister’s schedule and workload.
- Excellent proofreading and formatting skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, various email systems, some Excel and Powerpoint skills preferred.
- Must be able to operate a computer, printer, copy machine, telephone and answering system, and troubleshoot when applicable.
-Ability to meet weekly deadlines for bulletin and newsletter preparation and other written deadlines as needed.

Hours and Pay:
- Pay commensurate with experience and negotiable. 12-16 hours per week/weekdays. At least 1 hour per month on Sunday to address congregational needs.
